Employing teachers from a variety of backgrounds is what makes our schools unique. To determine if teaching is for you, it's important to reflect.

Start with some basic questions:

  • Do you enjoy being around kids? With positions from Pre-K to high school, chances are there's an age group best fit for you!

  • Do you love a challenge? While teaching is a challenge, it is also one of the most rewarding careers. The lives you will impact are infinite.

  • Do you have a passion for a specific subject? We're always looking to add to our BSSD family. Enthusiasm for any subject is contagious.

  • What's your WHY? Every teacher made their way into teaching for a different reason. Remembering your WHY will help you through the ups and downs.

Try Out Teaching

Want to experience teaching before committing to the career? There are multiple positions within BSSD to explore a variety of subjects and age groups.

​

Here are a few ideas:

  • Look for part-time positions as a paraprofessional or as a substitute teacher.

  • Volunteer in a classroom. 

  • Assist in an after-school program. 

​

BONUS, if you decide teaching is right for you, these experiences on your resume will help you to stand out among other applicants!
